The sun

There is a sun that shines so bright
that its rays can never be dimmed
for this sun is nothing like anything
anyone really knows
each that I get to really know this
amazing sun, I feel warmth
kindness and a good soul
this sun is talented above the rest
in many things, much more then just one
this sun is many things,
many can see it stands above the rest
with a pure heart, a truly good sun is hard to find
this sun is nothing short of awesome
And I am so glad to know this great light,
for its something i adore.

This is an old poem but sometimes it’s good to share

10 ways to learn a new language

1.Choose one language of a place that interests you

Some many people when choosing to learn a new language, have a hard time choosing.

From french, to Chinese or even Russian. How do you start ? First you must choose a language of a country that interests you or that you think you may use. For example the second language I learnt was French, as I had a general passion for French.

2. Enroll in classes or buy a language book

The first step is to enroll in a language course, if you need help when studying this is perfect for you but search around because sometimes prices can be expensive. If a classes don’t fit your lifestyle, then buy a book. For this you will need self-motivation, and practice and also to search the sound on google translate.

3. Download Duolingo

Duolingo is a great free app that can be downloaded to androrid or apple. While there are only a few languages to select from if you have the choice of your language then do it. It works on your writing, listen and hearing abilities. Do this while on the bus or just in general spare time to enhance your skills.

4. Listen to music in the choice of your language

Downloading and listening to music in the choice of your language is a fun way to learn new words and keep up your pronunciation. Even dancing to the music and knowing the words in a way to have fun with it.

5. Put post-stick notes everywhere

Putting post-stick notes all over your house of objects is an amazing way to remember and learn words. For example put a post-stick note of your door, of the word of your chosen language, also under write the sound of the word.

6. Learn the sound of the vowels

If you are learning a latin based language learning the vowels will ensure you can speak the words correctly. It will also make it easier to sound words out and form the sound of it in head even if you are unsure of how the other letters are.

7. Talk to native speaks of the language

Speaking with a native speaker is one of the best ways to speak a language, not only will they help you to speak correctly but you will be able to understand what they are saying. Also when you speak with a native speaker you learn words that are more commonly used  . There are times when you may use the formal way to speak a language but it may not really be spoken in the country.

8. Ensure you practice at least 30 minutes per day

To make sure that you that you are learning and able to speak you must practice, practice. Doing so at least 30 minutes per day will ensure that your are getting the most out of your learning.

9. Confidence

One of the most important things is confidence and trying to speak it even if you are not perfect. Some many people study a language for years and cant even speak it. In order to speak you must try.

10. GO TO THAT COUNTRY AND DON’T SPEAK YOUR FIRST LANGUAGE

The final thing is to book your flight and go to the country. There is no better way to learn then to immerse yourself in the culture. Also by not speaking english and forcing yourself to converse in that language you will learn. It will be much better then any of the  of the 9 steps above. There is no greater feeling then being able to speak fluently in more then one language.

8 Things People dont tell you after you travel

There are all types of people in the world, but there are a large group of humans, that fight against the norm and packed their lives into a bag for a large period of time, or perhaps forever. Smelling indescribable scents, hearing foreigns sounds and seeing sights that will never be forgotten. However after all the magically things are over, the journey is done, there are a number of unspoken phenomenons….

1. Everything will be the same as you left it

Travel not only opens people but also can change ones whole world view and who you are. You have changed so much but you find your home the same as you left it. Your friends and family are doing similar things to what they used to. There is not much change to your city, the way of life is the same. And your view on where your from will mostly likely change.

2. Post Travel Depression

Even if you love your home and are happy to be there. There is a time period, where you just feel stuck, bored and question life. It can be hard to settle into the typically 9 to 5 norm, especially after having your breath take away almost everyday. Every more so, when all you want to do is talk and remember that amazing time period of your life. But your friends struggle to see why you feel this way, or why your unhappy at home. As if your home, is not for you anymore.

3. Missing the people you meet aboard

If missing people from home while you were overseas wasn’t hard enough, now you have to miss the life time friends you have made. Bonds are made quickly and strong on the road, seeing people from all walks of life and countries come together. These people may have become your family or home for a time period and then their gone. And although you will meet again, you have to leave so many of them time and time again. Maybe they know you better then people from back home.

4. You do foriegn customs without realising it

Each country has their own set of habits and customs, and if you spend a while in one place you start doing small things too without realising. It’s maybe eating lunch as your main meal or saying cheers with every drink. Small things are ingrained into you.  But back in your home you discover after many people mention to you that what you doing is odd you have a few new habits.

5. A very real lust for authentic foreign food

After you get over trying all the food from your home that you didn’t have for a while your traveling such as vegemite(my pick), you miss the food that was like something you have never tasted. Even though there many amazing restaurants that may sell “authentic foreign food” its just not the same. That perfect curry and real tacos even its almost the same, its not!!

6. You struggle to remember the new languages or phrases you learnt

Perhaps you have learnt a few new languages or even phrases while overseas and your proud that you know it. But months past you slowly start forgetting the words and you will try at one point to remember of relearn them, but its get harder and harder the long you stay.

7. You will research new places to travel

If you have a time to yourself or a spare moment in time, its most likely you look at travel photos, blogs and even videos. This gives you a way to still connect to travel, while being able to dream of the next adventure even if its not anytime soon. The idea of a different country can perhaps even get you through a “normal” week.

8. You realise travel will be your greatest love affair of all time

For all the things you do in life, your hobbies, friends and lovers, nothing can compare your love of the road or the unknown. From the thrills, to the low moments, it is all worth it and there are not real words to describe this passion or what you done or felt.

“Once you have traveled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quiestest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey.”

Can you see me ?

Can you see me ?
Can you see this not a game.
That all my flaws is what took you
away
and know I still think of you everyday
I hope that there is still days when you
remember more then just the pain
Is there anyway my love
Can fill the hole of this crazy pain
For even thought I didn’t shown it
your the one my heart sings for
maybe you dont believe it was ever real
but now long after I pray you still feel something
because even after all, my mind desires no else but you
Can we love each other honest, loyal?
All I know that going to try and fix this
because I will never forget you
or the magic we felt

The Tide

A new tide washes in everyday
the evidence of yesterday is swept away
But even know though everyday
there is the new
its still not enough to take
away my pain
for each  tide that comes
in  there is not tide that compares to you
to the love i had for you when you were
in my arms
the the happiness i felt when you held me
but the tides took us different ways
and i thought my tide was strong
And could handle the change
but it wasn’t
so you were wash away
however even though times have change
I still hear your name when the tides
roll in
never forget, will I
and I hope and pray that once again
our tides come together again

Isla Holbox-A quick guide.

If you ever get the chance visit the amazing country of Mexico, please do yourself a favor and visit the fascinating Island of Isla Holbox. The sandy white beach, radiant sunsets, friendly locals and a endless amount of natural beauty is not a place one can easily forget or even leave.

Most people, are even lucky to hear about this wonderful place. It was recommend to me by a friend while I was living in Playa Del Carmen and forever thankful will I be. There is around 1000 people that live on the Island, if you want a place to relax and chill look no further.

Location and Getting there

Isla Holbox meaning black hole in mayan is located 3 hours from Cancun via bus and ferry
on the north coast of the Yucatán Peninsula.
There are a few different ways to get to the Island, however the cheapest and most popular way is via ADO bus. Take the bus from the Cancun downtown station to Chilquila, then a ferry to the island.
There is a daily direct bus for Chiquilá (between 3 and 3,5 hours), the closest mainland town by ferry. The bus leaves Cancun at 7:45am, 10:30am, 12:45 pm and another one at 13:45 pm. After that you can get a ferry to the Island/

Where to stay
There are a number of cute places to stay however I recommend

Tribu Hostel
This the of the only hostel on the Island, but its like no other. This place is great, with a bar open every day but Monday, even locals go here. Check the website below for more info.

Casa Las Tortugas
If you have a bit more money to spend, this also a great hotel on the beach front with a great restaurant.

Things to do

Whale Shark Tour
The main reason tourist come to this island is for the whale sharks from Feb to September every year, this is one of the best places in the world to go swimming with these magical creatures. A five hour tour will cost you around $100 dollars, with breakfast and lunch included. There a number of different companies on the Island just ask around for the best price.

Swim with plankton glowing the the dark

When the moon is hidden, at night almost every night you can swim with plankton that glows in the dark when you swim. See fish light up as they swim in the water and get back to nature. Dance around and watch in amazement as the water glows as you move.

Hire a golf cart and explore
There are no cars on Isla Holbox, instead people walk everywhere or you can hire a golf cart and explore different parts of the Island. Again there a number of places to hire from. Ask around the centre square if your interested.

Watch shooting stars
Every night throughout the year you can see sometimes hundreds of shooting stars and also the milky way. Grab a towel and lye on the beach around a bonfire.

Bird watching
Isla Holbox is home to hundreds of different birds from Mexico, and my favourite is the flamingos. Its not uncommon to see them flying while the sunset. Walk east down the beach to find hundreds of them in the water.

Isla Holbox is amazing for wildlife, there are also a number of great restaurants to eat at, just walk around the centre square to find what your after.

This island is so magical, after having lived here for around 4 months, its safe to say that Holbox is by far one of my favourite places in the world. There is not alot of information on this Island, so if you want advice feel free to ask.

Cheers B

Beautiful Bali

Bali what a great place! So many people I know, think Bali is over rated. That crazy drunk backpackers and the Australians fill the streets, making its not the best place to holiday  But with sandy white beaches, amazing sunsets , cheap eats and the chilled vibe. Why would you not want to come to this magical place?

Im currently lucky enough to stay in The Kuta heritage beach hotel, what an amazing hotel. Its safe to say, that this is possibly one the nicest places I have stayed. The highlight to this place, is the amazing rooftop pool/bar where you can watch stunning sunsets and laze around in pool chairs. Also late at night, the hotels has a number of coloured lights in the pool. Wow, what a sight. Also you cant go wrong with the buffet breakfast for only $10(US) per night. With all food you could possibly want, fresh balinese cafe and my choice fresh lychees with fresh banana yogurt . While Im not one to rave about hotels or hostels, this one is definitely worth it.
See the website below
http://thekutabeachheritage.com

Kuta is an nice area of Bali, while its famous for the nightlife, there are areas which are not so crazy, and the beach is stunning. Walk along the Kuta beach to find a variety of beach chairs, where you can order any drink you want from juice to a beer, generally at a fair price. You can hire a fews chair for the day and get a couple of drinks for around 100,000 Indonesian rupiah(  $10 Australian dollars). If you know how to surf or want to learn Kuta Beach is great, the waves have being relaxing while not to hard for new comers. You can hire a board any size for about $3(us) for an hour or $7(us) for the day.

Balinese people, seem to a very friendly bunch, and so polite, however be careful of the scammers and people wanting to get the most money out of you. Balinese vendors and women walk along the beach, and will almost offer you anything from a hat, to a massage, to hair braiding. Well its can be very nice to have these things right at your fingers, ensure you  bargain for a good price and if your not interested say No, thankyou firmly with a smile on your face. Its always great to learn a few greetings in any  foreign country you travel too. Here are a few basic ones Balinese words that I have picked up.

Suksema- ( Suk sim ma) -Thank-you
Mewali- (Me-wali)-Your welcome
Mahal- (Ma-hal) Expensive
Murah- (Mu-rah)Cheap
Apa kabar-(Apa ka-bar)-  How are you ?
Bagus- (ba-gus) -good
Teman-(Te-man)Friend
Bercanda-(Ber-canda)-Joke

Overall, while I have only being in Bali for four nights, Im having a great time, check out my photos below and comment if you want any advice. More to come soon of tips and information on Bali.

Peace out
B
